y ddraig goch
Aug 2nd
These are a series of wallhangings we produce, based on our own design of the Welsh Dragon and Celtic Knotwork.
We make a maximum of one a year, and each one is unique. Mixed techniques of applique, patchwork and quilting.
The example below was created in 2006 to be displayed in a revamped community village hall near Lake Vyrnwy in North Wales.

Dyffryn Ardudwy Fair
Jul 28th
The annual Dyffryn Ardudwy summer craft fair is nearly upon us … This is a mid-summer fair highlighting all sorts of crafts including knitting, photography, painting and textiles (if I have left any out be sure to let me know).
Mostly, if not all, of the exhibitors are local Welsh craftspeople.
BUT — When is it???? Bumble Bee Quilting usually exhibits quilts and wallhangings and other textile wonders.
But, as we don’t know when its to happen we cannot advertise it in our shop in Corris, nor attend.
If you know when it is — please let us know……
Out of Africa – Elephant design
Jul 18th
I started the Out of Africa wallhanging theme from Jemma and Alex’s photos of their honeymoon safari in Kenya.
This was the photgraph that prompted me to include the Elephant, that noble and ancient beast of the Kenyan grasslands, as they relaxed in a muddy pool.

Getting rid of the “bums and legs” while lengthening the picture gave me this

Elephant all alone
I created a “virtual” baby elephant to share the pool with its relative

The end result which will be the basis of the Elephant wallhanging from my Out of Africa series, now looks like this

Leonardo might recognise the lines ….. and I’m sure you all do too.

Out Of Africa
Jul 16th
I am designing a series of quilted wallhangings based on animal pictures my daughter Jemma and her new husband Alex took whilst on their honeymoon in Kenya in 2008.
I shall show the design processes as they develop
Meanwhile – many congrats from us both on your first Anniversary
Autumn Wallhanging
Jul 16th
This is the Autumn wallhanging which was amazingly sold while still under construction … and then delivered when finished,
Autumn was the first of my 4 season set to be designed and made – winter will complete the set – spring has been sold and summer is still on display in Machynlleth.

Herb Garden Wallhanging
Jul 15th
This is the second fabric wallhanging I’ve currently got display at the Fforwm Creft Cymru (Craft Forum Wales) gallery in Machynlleth, Powys.
This is the third of my seasonal wallhangings, based on Summer.
Spring and Autumn have already been sold, and winter is in progress.
Come and see round the gallery, all exhibits created by local Welsh crafters and artists. All items are available for sale.

Wallhanging
Jul 12th
This is my next fabric wallhanging for display at Fforwm Creft Cymru (Craft Forum Wales) gallery in Machynlleth
A flattened background with bowls and flowers quilted on to give them prominence and, hopefully, bringing them into the foreground of vision.
The bowl has been deliberately obscured to almost resemble glass or ceramic

Fforwm Creft Cymru
Jul 10th
This is a quilt that I made early in 2009 for display in the Fforwm Creft Cymru (Craft Forum Wales) gallery in Machynlleth, Powys.
Themed on Spring, it resembles a view of revived flora amidst blossoming colours, yes the mis-shapen edges were deliberate to enhance the dynamics of the season.
It has now been sold (unfortunately (?) – I did enjoy the design and the construction and was sad in a strange way to see it sold, but pleased that someone liked it enough to buy!
