My week in the shop
Jul 25th
Well, I have now completed my week in the shop covering for Jane’s holiday.
First off, I hope that she and her family had a brilliant week, and that they return fully refreshed and recharged.
Secondly, for those who have never run a small shop before Wowee it is hard work. And I did no designing or sewing or quilting as Jane would have done. I did cut some fabrics from the bolt into fat quarters and then bag them. I did label those bags until the label gun broke in my hand. I did deliver several boxes of fabrics to Carno. Else, I did little but for the visitors we had to the shop in Corris Uchaf.
Many Thanks to them, it would have been very lonely without them.
To all those who drove past wrapped up in rugs and blankets to escape the summer chill — drop in next time we have some very exclusive alternatives to said wraps in the form of quilts of all sizes.
For all those who have ordered from our online fabric shop here these will be dispatched tomorrow as I said in my confirmation emails.
All that remains for me to do now is to collect the unsold fabrics from Carno later today.
But, if you are in the northern part of Powys do not forget to visit Carno and/or Llanidloes for their quilting exhibitions – you will find, I’m sure, very few more agreeable ways of spending a Sunday.
Meanwhile, thanks again to all my visitors this week – till the next time, as Jane returns tomorrow so normal business and quilting restarts then.
Corris Music Festival
Feb 22nd
The Beer Festival concluded with not a drop left of any of the guest, showcase ales – and not a dry eye in the house either ….
This means that I can get back to my quilting and my fabric shop — BUT, and isn’t there always, the coucil have decided to relay the road surface after the past winter’s freeze.
Therefore access to our shop in Corris Uchaf might be more problematic than usual
If you want to visit (and it shouldn’t put you off as forewarned is forearmed (or longarmed for quilters perhaps)) please phone in advance or use the Contact Us form above.
Or you can always buy you fabrics online with Bumble Bee Quilting’s online shop.
Meanwhile some part of the brain begins to think of the first weekend in Sept 2010 – Corris Music Festival – and, from the current line-up, this promises to be another “cultural” weekend at the Braich Goch Bunkhouse in Corris with again many free events. So book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment and prepare your ears and senses to some wonderment (is that a word in English?) ….
Eshop update
Jun 21st
We have not been writing much recetly, not that there has been little happening but lack of opportunity (ie I’ve been lazy)
But, meantime, Linda has sent us an email with comments on our online fabric shop.
A critique would be a better word, but all her points are worthwhile and entirely valid. We might be able to design and construct a quilt from scratch to a high standard but doing the same with a website is a completely different ball game.
So, Thank you Linda – we have taken on board your comments and have already actioned some. Other changes along the lines of your suggestions are in the pipleline.
Our online fabric shop is here if you wish to see developments, or even buy fat quarters online from the comfort of your own home or library – now with Free Shipping.
Shopfitting
Mar 4th
We have nearly completed the shopfitting! Seems to have taken months, but winter is not an easy time to rebuild and restructure the shop.
But, we shall be ready for Easter – tell us if you like the new shop design or not, We hope it makes the shop seem larger with easier access to the retail area and more room for us to design and make our patchwork and quilting goods.
The builders have also finished all the repairs from the ram raid at Corris Craft Centre – varnishing aside, which had better be soon as the doors are already warping in the damp.
Shame that the locks they fitted do not meet British Standards. We shall replace these soonest.
Otherwise, we are on course for another busy season at the craft centre, we hope to meet another several thousand quilters this year and swap more yarns (wrong thread, sorry)
Heat
Jan 20th
“Wow – its cold in here, I’m going outside” …..
How many times have we heard that this winter. Loads. Yep, our quilting workshop is cold, it even freezes the corns off our sewing fingers. Not good.
Anyway, we have splashed out and got ourselves a gas heater. So, no more blasts of cold air as you enter from the outside. But now a pleasant and comfortable ambience so that you can watch us quilt, browse our shop, puchase or even join the sewing experience here in rural Wales.
So, drop by Bumble Bee Quilting at Corris Craft Centre and take advantage of our risen thermometer, just dust the icicles off yoursleve first and savour the moment….
January Sale
Jan 4th
Its the New Year….

So, we have a 10% sale on all Fat Quarters, kits, cushions and other quilting goodies at our shop in Botany Bay
A fun day out for all, and the bonus of adding to the ever diminishing stash of quilting fabrics.

The builders commeth
Dec 13th
On a cold, damp, blustery day in our craft centre in Corris, Mid Wales, the builders commeth.
They have removed the whole of the front to our craft unit and are in the process of fitting the frame for the new front. Very cold at the moment, we are struggling to do any quilting as the fingers freeze on the needles. But this should be over soon.
Hopefully by the weekend you will see a nice new shiny shop front with lots of glass to let in the light to help us sew and to better display all our textile products and our quilting fabrics.
Lets hope this proves to be the end of our ram raiding nuisence.
