Corris Beer Festival 2011
Jan 18th
As some of you know, there are occasions when I am not quilting or attempting to run the house & business.
These times are indeed rare, but uplifting. This happens to be one of them – Corris Beer Festival – running from 17th until 20th Feb 2011 together with music from local bands.
As usual I shall be aiding and abetting with ministering to the cognoscenti from behind the bar, resplendent in costume, fulfilled with tea.
Should you be anywhere in southern Snowdonia in or around Corris – then join us at the Braich Goch Inn and sample some fine ales all the way from Somerset.
Details of this and previous Beer Festivals here
Corris Music Festival
Aug 29th
The rolling hills of southern Snowdonia will rock for 4 nights commencing 2nd September 2010 to the sounds of bands, singing, choirs and general harmless frivolity.
Corris Music Festival again hits the scene of this largely forgotten corner of Wales under the watchful eye of the Mother Mountain – Cadair Idris.
With most of the local venues participating it will be a good community event – made even better by the fact that the annual Corris Show almost coincides next Saturday afternoon.
Everyone is more than welcome to come, join in and be entertained by local musicians aided and abetted by acts from much of Wales from traditional Welsh Choirs to modern electronic strings. the event is varied and ambitious in its scope.
Full details can be found here.
As an added bonus there will also be a mini beer festival at the Braich Goch Inn – an opportunity to sample differing flavours from some carefully chosen micro breweries
The Festival of Quilts @ The NEC
Aug 5th
Running at the NEC, Birmingham from 19 – 22 August 2010 this is an exhibition not to be missed by any lover of textiles, sewing, vibrant colours and textures, and audacious imagination for this must be Europe’s leading quilting event of 2010
Workshops, competitions, amateur and professional works showcased, together with the stalls of scores of suppliers there is something to keep you occupied and entertained all day long.
Unlike 2009 I have no works in the competition, but I intend going as a spectator this year and hopefully I’ll see some of my friends and customers there ….
Yeah for the V&A
May 18th
I have been sent 2 tickets from the V&A for the Quilt Exhibition (for an earlier post see here) Yeah …
I now have about a month to get there from our corner of rural Wales – but I shall make it by hook or by crook … and I’ll let you know my thoughts although I dare say I shall not be able to share any pictures with you unfortunately – but we’ll see.
Can’t wait – it promises to be a fantastic exhibition of quilts, designs, fabrics and techniques over the centuries
Corris Music Festival
Feb 22nd
The Beer Festival concluded with not a drop left of any of the guest, showcase ales – and not a dry eye in the house either ….
This means that I can get back to my quilting and my fabric shop — BUT, and isn’t there always, the coucil have decided to relay the road surface after the past winter’s freeze.
Therefore access to our shop in Corris Uchaf might be more problematic than usual
If you want to visit (and it shouldn’t put you off as forewarned is forearmed (or longarmed for quilters perhaps)) please phone in advance or use the Contact Us form above.
Or you can always buy you fabrics online with Bumble Bee Quilting’s online shop.
Meanwhile some part of the brain begins to think of the first weekend in Sept 2010 – Corris Music Festival – and, from the current line-up, this promises to be another “cultural” weekend at the Braich Goch Bunkhouse in Corris with again many free events. So book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment and prepare your ears and senses to some wonderment (is that a word in English?) ….
Corris Beer Festival
Feb 19th
As its the Corris Beer Festival this weekend, and we know that you would rather be there than quilting (for shame), we shall be closed on 20 and 21 February 2010
Sorry about that – but its for your own benefit, but so that you don’t damage yourself with a needle having sampled some rather fine ales at the Braich Goch Bunkhouse in Corris
Details of the beer festival can be found here — enjoy and drink responsibly.
Festival of Quilts
Jul 29th
I am busy trying to complete my entry for the exhibition. I have until Friday and time is very short, but I’m working flat out.
This is one of the UK’s premier Quilting exhibitions, miss at your peril …..
An opportunity to see some of my designs, if you have not seen them in my shop at Corris Craft Centre, and an example of contemporary Welsh craft.
Festival of Quilts

Corris Beer Festival ROCKED!!!!!!!!!
Feb 25th
Just thought I’d give you a little insight into Corris’s recent 1st ‘Beer Festival’… It was amazing to be part of it. (though the 12 midday Saturday - 1.30am Sunday was a long stint – my poor feet!!!)
From the Thursday evening – Invited press and local dignitries, to the last pint on Sunday at approx 5.15pm… everyone who came, went home wondering when the next one might be.
There was 12 Real Ales, 7 from Scottish micro breweries and 5 from Wales and live bands & singers on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon & evening which had the place ‘jumping’ from start to finish… check out the website for other photo’s and information for the next one!!! http://www.corrisbeerfestival.co.uk you might like to also check out the Corris Music Festival for later this year http://www.corrisfestival.co.uk
