Good intentions!!!!!!!

There’s a saying about Good intentions… but at present it escapes me… as does the time!

Sorry that i’ve had to be chided by my long suffering spouse to add my 2pn’th.

Part of this rambling is ’sad’, Suzie no longer is with us at Bumble Bee… when she returned from her trip, she made the desision to seek full time employment… which at present I cannot offer… so we wish her good luck with her plans and employment, but we will miss her loads.

I’ve had to do a lot of soul searching about whether to replace her with another quilter… (which would help me loads) or find another solution… to which end I now have a lovely girl ‘Cassy’ ably looking after the shop on a Saturday… she may not know a lot about quilting, but on recent showing is a very quick learner… bear with her and i think she will do very well… This will enable me to take stock ’so to speak’ and work out in the coming weeks how best to move forward.

The rest of my news is very positive… (you’ll be pleased to hear)

My ‘Mother of the Bride’ occasion is speeding quickly on… only another 5 weeks to go… 6 bridal party outfits to alter, numerous bouquets to help make and a last minuite 3 weeks, 3 tier wedding cake to ice and patchworking! but it will be worth it… I love them both dearly + the 3 rug rats (my new 3 adorable granddaughters)

All commissions have been completed, the ‘Teresa Anna’s Quilt’ has enough squares returned to complete… which will be the post wedding challenge, so that the raffle can happen during the rest of this year and next through to october 2009… so keep checking this website for a chance to get your ticket.

I’m attending a number of exhibitions/fairs during the summer

Llanidloes - Minerva Centre 3-5th May

Pontfhydfendigaid - Pafiliwn Bont 31st May- 1st June (tbc)

Carno - Community Centre 25th - 27th July (to be confirmed)

will hopefully not be so long in writing again!!!!!!

Easter 2008

Well here we are, Easter 2008 and not a word from either Jane or Suzie despite the promises of at least one of them ….. But Suzie has only just returned from Oz seeing her newly married daughter in her new home (and hopefully sampling many of the delights of Australian Quilting). will she now post some photos here? - Welcome home Suzie and Gary

Despite everything, Jane has survived the worst of the winter in her small. cold craft unit. She has worn her frozen fingers to the marrow with new quilts and patchworks,

These are now spread about her unit in Corris for all to see and admire. We are now back full-time 7 days a week until the end of October

Jane has almost completed our latest Welsh Wall Hanging - a new, commissioned, Ddraid Goch for 2008. This will be going to the USA with its owners when they move later in the spring. We trust they enjoy it every day, and that it brings many happy memories of our rich Welsh heritage and country.

Easter is upon us, we’ve had more visitors in the last two days than in the last 3 months combined (although that’s not saying much) despite us being open 5 or more days a week. Very good to see everybody, and to welcome back old friends, despite the arctic weather with hail, snow and a bitter wind. But, just up the road, Cadair Idris looks magnificent with its old crater ringed with snow, like an appropriate Ice-Age Halo.

We hope to see you at Corris Craft Centre, free entry and a good day out for all the family. Don’t forget to pop in and say hello…………. , and also pay a visit to the newly painted cafe with its rather fetching blue and white blinds (courtesy of Bumble Bee Quilting !!)

Hello!

Just thought i’d say a big thanks to my spouse! (I don’t do it very often) - he’s been keeping this blog going for some time, so I thought it about time that we give him some help.

We = (the ladies that meet & greet all visitors to our land based workshop/shop at Corris Craft Centre, who you may or may not have met),

I don’t know if this is a good thing only time will tell - he has done a good job thus far, us ladies are avid readers!

Please let us know if the standard falls.

Going Underground

Santa will be at Corris Craft Centre over the weekend on 15th 16th December 2007. Sail by boat into his Magical Underground Grotto, with gifts for the children and hot punch for the adults. Festive food and drink available in the cafe, with music and competitions.
Also available will be hand crafted gifts from 10 specialist craft workshops. - even design and make you own……..

So, make a date with Underground Santa this year, and have a ball, just 6 miles north of Machynlleth.

Stuck for seasonal accommodation for the weekend? Try Tynyffridd, family cottages for 4.

Standing Stones

Just wanted to share our admiration of some beautiful fabric Art seen recently at a lovely craft fair in Dyffryn Ardudwy which we were also invited to have a stall - Not only does the lady Karen Hall produce some fantastic machine embroidery pictures but she also makes wow factor fabric jewellery - as she purchased some of our fabric for the purpose of making the jewellery. We shall post images when she has turned our fabrics into jewels!

Llanidloes

The summer 2007 exhibition at Llanidloes run by The Quilt Association is drawing to a close.

If you have not yet been, now is your last chance…….

The usual mix of antique and modern has caused some debate. Everyone has a view, and if it can inspire and generate debate and reaction then thats good for the future of quilting. Bumble Bee Quilting spent a day there this week. We certainly enjoyed the mixture of new and old, demonstrating changing techniques, colours and fabrics over time. Some high quality work indeed, this event should be engraved on all our calendars each year.

25th Birthday

This weekend marks a milestone in the re-development of crafting in Wales

Corris Craft Centre is 25 years of age this weekend - 8th and 9th Sept 2007. Lots of celebrations and additional amusements for all the family.

If you have entered the prize draw - it will be drawn on the 9th Sept and the lucky winner will soon be united with his or her’s new handcrafted 18 carat gold celtic ring.

If you’ve nothing better or more worthwhile to do, come to Corris and join in the Birthday celebrations. As you would expect, Bumble Bee Quilting is entering into the spirit of things with unusual patchwork jeans worn by all the staff.

MALDWYN QUILTERS

Another excellent weekend at Carno thanks to the Maldwyn Quilters

Jane and Sue managed to free themselves from the Tea and Cake stall occasionally to look round and see the quilts and other goodies on hand.
They even managed to set up a stall and hand out some fabric samples in the shape of fat quarters for a small and very reasonable fee. So, well done, you made some quilters very happy with your wares.
But another good time was had by all amongst this friendly group of quilters,
