A round to it
Aug 19th
I sometimes look for and read through other quilting blogs. I say only sometimes as there is a time constraint, and it’s not because I am either arrogant or ignorant …. (I hope)
But, the thing that most strikes me about many of these blogs is the length and number of blogposts, and number of words and links and the quantity of usually excellent photographs or videos.
Makes me feel quite useless in this respect ( sob
)
So the questions I ask myself about these fine wordsmiths – do they write all day maybe even professionally, or are they quilters or quilting teachers who can also construct excellent articles, or are they better at time management than !? Or perhaps its a combination of at least two of these suggestions.
I run my own craft shop full-time, so blogging is just an incidental when I have a spare couple of minutes. But I’ve said before that I’ll try and take more relevant photos. As you’ve guessed, I’ve mainly failed in this respect.
But, I will try harder and I will get around to it
I return
Jul 27th
I had a FAB holiday – surrounded by all my family either during the week or at the weekend. And also managed to catch up with some “old” friends, old as in longstanding NOT as in advancing years they’ll be no doubt pleased to hear.
Spent much of it in or by the swimmingpool and/or looking after my little granddaughter. A real pleasure which also allowed Mum, hubby and the elder girls to spend some quality time together.
So. I’m now back in the shop and there’s so much to do. Some work has been done in the past week – not to the standard or thoroughness I’d have liked to have seen – but beggars can’t be choosers and I am very much more experienced. So a sort of thanks to my nobbly assistant
I’ve now managed to complete my second working day in the shop. Yesterday was a gradual re acclimatisation day, with many interesting and very welcome visitors to the shop. Just can’t help but be inspired by other people’s knowledge and enthusiasm.
Today, I’ve spent mainly looking at circular design and stitching techniques with a small class (of one other) – great fun.
I’ve still to complete the count of all the fat quarters returned from Carno – so glad to hear that they had a successful weekend, such a shame I had to miss it and the ladies this year.
So, the stock control is all over the place at the moment, I might get round to it tomorrow, but for now the Athletics bekons me towards the TV and an evening of sporting excellence (I hope)
Till, tomorrow then ….
Busy – quilting
Apr 30th
Silence on the blog – apologies.
Been busy, several new quilts on the go – as you know well choosing colours, fabrics, designing, cutting, stitching all take a lot of time. Or at least they do me …
No excuse not to write anything though, I know, and also no excuse not to put up some yet to be taken photographs and pictures of the quilt tops and the design ideas – some quite good designs and colours as well although I say it myself.
Also, done a couple of ad-hoc needlefelting courses – remember, if you are in the Corris area and fancy a go —> drop in and be creative with felt..
I shall take some pictures and post them here of the new quilts shortly — watch this space as it were
Road Works – no bother
Feb 28th
Oh well, it seems a few raised irons and some uneven surfaces cannot put off quilters … Good on you, we knew you were made of sterner stuff.
The shop in Corris Uchaf has remained busy with all sorts of interesting quilters with partners and friends enjoying a day out in one of the least wet parts of the UK it seems.
And let us know what you think of the revamped shop (yep it will be better when all the floor covering is complete we know) and the workshop room will also be open soon for courses. More of them later …..
Meanwhile, for those who cannot get to our little corner of Wales (dwarfed by that noble and ancient ice-age volcano we call Cadair Idris) for whatever reason, our online fabric shop is still open 24/7 and can be found here.
Meanwhile, I’ll continue with my fabric designs and putting some new patchwork and starter kits together
Corris Music Festival
Feb 22nd
The Beer Festival concluded with not a drop left of any of the guest, showcase ales – and not a dry eye in the house either ….
This means that I can get back to my quilting and my fabric shop — BUT, and isn’t there always, the coucil have decided to relay the road surface after the past winter’s freeze.
Therefore access to our shop in Corris Uchaf might be more problematic than usual
If you want to visit (and it shouldn’t put you off as forewarned is forearmed (or longarmed for quilters perhaps)) please phone in advance or use the Contact Us form above.
Or you can always buy you fabrics online with Bumble Bee Quilting’s online shop.
Meanwhile some part of the brain begins to think of the first weekend in Sept 2010 – Corris Music Festival – and, from the current line-up, this promises to be another “cultural” weekend at the Braich Goch Bunkhouse in Corris with again many free events. So book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment and prepare your ears and senses to some wonderment (is that a word in English?) ….

Eshop update
Jun 21st
We have not been writing much recetly, not that there has been little happening but lack of opportunity (ie I’ve been lazy)
But, meantime, Linda has sent us an email with comments on our online fabric shop.
A critique would be a better word, but all her points are worthwhile and entirely valid. We might be able to design and construct a quilt from scratch to a high standard but doing the same with a website is a completely different ball game.
So, Thank you Linda – we have taken on board your comments and have already actioned some. Other changes along the lines of your suggestions are in the pipleline.
Our online fabric shop is here if you wish to see developments, or even buy fat quarters online from the comfort of your own home or library – now with Free Shipping.
The season starts again
Apr 3rd
After the damp dark months of Winter we now have sun and bright skys.
Our season is starting again and we are full of vigour and keen to get on with our patchwork and quilting in our little craft unit.
The underground operations have restarted and our craft centre is again full of happy smiling faces and cheery squeals, and that’s just from the crafters themselves.
We are looking forward to welcoming all our happy visitors to our shops in Corris and we know that we shall have something to delight you all.
