Maldwyn Quilters at Carno

Maldwyn Quilters again host their annual exhibition at Carno, Powys.
Another excellent weekend promises to be had by all – Come and see and see the quilts and other goodies on display, join in even.
Tea and cakes also on hand.
Bumble Bee Quilting has a stall and and will hand out some fabric samples in the shape of fat quarters for a small and very reasonable fee.
Another good time to be savoured amongst this friendly group of quilters – so come to Carno this weekend from 25-July until 27-July 2008.
Llanidloes

The summer 2007 exhibition at Llanidloes run by The Quilt Association is drawing to a close.
If you have not yet been, now is your last chance…….
The usual mix of antique and modern has caused some debate. Everyone has a view, and if it can inspire and generate debate and reaction then thats good for the future of quilting. Bumble Bee Quilting spent a day there this week. We certainly enjoyed the mixture of new and old, demonstrating changing techniques, colours and fabrics over time. Some high quality work indeed, this event should be engraved on all our calendars each year.
MALDWYN QUILTERS

Another excellent weekend at Carno thanks to the Maldwyn Quilters
Jane and Sue managed to free themselves from the Tea and Cake stall occasionally to look round and see the quilts and other goodies on hand.
They even managed to set up a stall and hand out some fabric samples in the shape of fat quarters for a small and very reasonable fee. So, well done, you made some quilters very happy with your wares.
But another good time was had by all amongst this friendly group of quilters,
The season starts again

After the damp dark months of Winter we now have sun and bright skys.
Our season is starting again and we are full of vigour and keen to get on with our patchwork and quilting in our little craft unit.
The underground operations have restarted and our craft centre is again full of happy smiling faces and cheery squeals, and that’s just from the crafters themselves.
We are looking forward to welcoming all our happy visitors to our shops in Corris and we know that we shall have something to delight you all.
Shopfitting
Mar 4th
We have nearly completed the shopfitting! Seems to have taken months, but winter is not an easy time to rebuild and restructure the shop.
But, we shall be ready for Easter – tell us if you like the new shop design or not, We hope it makes the shop seem larger with easier access to the retail area and more room for us to design and make our patchwork and quilting goods.
The builders have also finished all the repairs from the ram raid at Corris Craft Centre – varnishing aside, which had better be soon as the doors are already warping in the damp.
Shame that the locks they fitted do not meet British Standards. We shall replace these soonest.
Otherwise, we are on course for another busy season at the craft centre, we hope to meet another several thousand quilters this year and swap more yarns (wrong thread, sorry)
January Sale

Its the New Year….
Time to prepare and think about those patchwork and quilting projects to ease the way through the long winter nights.
So, we have a 10% sale on all Fat Quarters, kits, cushions and other quilting goodies at our shop in Botany Bay
A fun day out for all, and the bonus of adding to the ever diminishing stash of quilting fabrics.

Christmas Patchwork

It seems that Christmas is nearly upon us.
We have been inundated with requests for our own speciality Christmas Stockings for the kids and even the cats and dogs.
This has kept us very busy over the past few days, but productive in design and making of these fabric goodies.
We also have had requests for cushions as presents, many with a Welsh theme but some more individual like a watering can cushion for a keen gardener. Just shows that you can make virtually anything from fabric with a bit of imagination.
Keep those requests comming – we enjoy the challenge and the sewing.
Neglected our Quilting and our Blog

Well. we’ve certainly been remiss.
We have neglected both our quilting and our blog.
Whilst the shop is in a state of disary due to our unwelcome guests we have had a refit. The shop interior is as you will never have seen it before.
Lighter, better presented, more display area, more work area and easier for ourselves and our guests to get about. More space to actually quilt in as well.
Well worth a look even if we say so ourselves. Being neither professional interior designers nor shopfitters, we have to admit we’ve done a pretty good job.
