Picasa Web Albums – Bumble Bee Quilting
Jul 14th
After about 6 years of ummming and rrrrrrring – I have started to create an album of craft works that have been produced for the shop, and events that have happened ….
I am quite happy behind a camera – just not very good at actually getting it out and taking photographs. Must try harder
I shall keep putting up old photos as I find them – and taking new as well.
As a reminder to all our visitors, the needlefelting is always open when the shop is, although at times there might bee a short wee Q
So, drop by, be creative and have fun with felt – suitable for any and every level of experience (or not) and for most ages from small to senior ….

Feel free to comment suitably …. and courses will resume shortly. If you have any course or workshop you want us to put on please feel free to contact us here.
Busy – quilting
Apr 30th
Silence on the blog – apologies.
Been busy, several new quilts on the go – as you know well choosing colours, fabrics, designing, cutting, stitching all take a lot of time. Or at least they do me …
No excuse not to write anything though, I know, and also no excuse not to put up some yet to be taken photographs and pictures of the quilt tops and the design ideas – some quite good designs and colours as well although I say it myself.
Also, done a couple of ad-hoc needlefelting courses – remember, if you are in the Corris area and fancy a go —> drop in and be creative with felt..
I shall take some pictures and post them here of the new quilts shortly — watch this space as it were
New quilt ideas
Mar 17th
So, have I been doing anything over the past few weeks ???
Well, yes actually. At least I’ve got several projects on the go at the moment.
I’m creating a patchwork of the local rugged scenery as seen from the forests to the south of Corris. This is being foundation pieced, I’ll show the original view, the design and the piecework as it develops …
Also, I getting all the grandchildren and their neices and nephews to help me make a quilt. The idea is that each child makes one 12″ square to learn sewing and quilting techniques, and then how to put a quilt together with all their ideas and creations included. As such it will be a joint effort, done together, learnt together, demonstrating how much fun quilting is as a group (bee).
At the same time, I am developing some new quilts based on the range of fabrics above – easy to get carried away with all the bright vibrant colours …. we’ll see how these progress over the next week or two.
So, quilting continues at Corris – just been a bit quiet on the blog front – must do better !!
Road Works – no bother
Feb 28th
Oh well, it seems a few raised irons and some uneven surfaces cannot put off quilters … Good on you, we knew you were made of sterner stuff.
The shop in Corris Uchaf has remained busy with all sorts of interesting quilters with partners and friends enjoying a day out in one of the least wet parts of the UK it seems.
And let us know what you think of the revamped shop (yep it will be better when all the floor covering is complete we know) and the workshop room will also be open soon for courses. More of them later …..
Meanwhile, for those who cannot get to our little corner of Wales (dwarfed by that noble and ancient ice-age volcano we call Cadair Idris) for whatever reason, our online fabric shop is still open 24/7 and can be found here.
Meanwhile, I’ll continue with my fabric designs and putting some new patchwork and starter kits together
Road Works
Feb 27th
It had to happen – we have no surface on the road outside.
Somehow the council has found the cash to repair the road after the ravages of the past winter, 2 weeks of disruption.
But, as we have loads to do, finish the shop fittings, quilt designs and making we are open.
If you can bear a few bumps – pay us a visit and see if we can time the sound of the sewing machine with the pusle of the machinary outside. Its not actually as bad as it might be and they are scheduled to complete in 10 days or so.
So, some on down and see what we have been up with our fabrics and patchwork goodies …. Or, as always, you can always but fat quarters, notions and needlefelting supplies at our online shop here.
Corris Music Festival
Feb 22nd
The Beer Festival concluded with not a drop left of any of the guest, showcase ales – and not a dry eye in the house either ….
This means that I can get back to my quilting and my fabric shop — BUT, and isn’t there always, the coucil have decided to relay the road surface after the past winter’s freeze.
Therefore access to our shop in Corris Uchaf might be more problematic than usual
If you want to visit (and it shouldn’t put you off as forewarned is forearmed (or longarmed for quilters perhaps)) please phone in advance or use the Contact Us form above.
Or you can always buy you fabrics online with Bumble Bee Quilting’s online shop.
Meanwhile some part of the brain begins to think of the first weekend in Sept 2010 – Corris Music Festival – and, from the current line-up, this promises to be another “cultural” weekend at the Braich Goch Bunkhouse in Corris with again many free events. So book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment and prepare your ears and senses to some wonderment (is that a word in English?) ….
New Quilt shop in Corris
Feb 18th
Well, actually a re-located quilt shop.
Bumble Bee Quilting has finally moved into its new location in Corris Uchaf (Upper Corris)
Floor’s not done yet, but the majority of the rest of the shop fittings are complete. Furniture is in place, machines are up and running and my quilt table has been re-assemled.
About time too I hear you say. Yep, been too damn cold and done on a shoestring. But we are now operational and raring to go. To all our old and new friends alike – we look forward to welcoming you into our new humble abode ….
We shll be re-starting our fabric and textile courses and workshops soon – updates to follow – and can now offer (subject to availability) some accommodation for those wishing a longer stay.
Good Bye – Corris Craft Centre
Nov 1st
We are preparing to leave Corris Craft Centre by the middle of this month.
Its been a good few years, but the ever increasing costs in a recession have forced our hands.
However, its not goodbye to Bumble Bee Quilting – we shall be relocating to an old shop in Corris Uchaf (Upper Corris) just 1/2 mile north of teh Craft Centre towrds Dolgellau.
Find the Pottery in Corris Uchaf, and we are about 200 yards up the hill on the opposite side.
So, for all our seasoned guests, just come on up and visit us again; and to the rest – give us a go for all your fabric and quilting notions. You might be pleasantly suprised by a cup of tea as well ….
We shall continue to provide seating for spouses, and we shll continue with our courses as before. Even better – we can now provide accommodation (subject to availability) as well.
So, see you in Corris Uchaf …..
