Festival of Quilts
Aug 4th
I have just just checked with Royal Mail and it seems that my “PearlEssence” quilt was delivered to the organisers on time – Hurrah. Now lets just hope that they opened it in time for inclusion in the display at the NEC.
This is is one of Europe’s biggest quilt fests, to be held at the NEC, Birmimgham, UK on 20th to 23rd August 2009. It is organised by Creative Exhibitions Limited with the support of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles and TwistedThread.
There are several galleries of exhibitions showcasing work from many leading artists and those unheard of before now, together with workshops from the beginner upwards, and a whole wealth of stalls and merchandise on offer. You might like to borrow a shopping trolley as you gather up all those hard to find notions etc that you’ve been searching for all these years.
The festival will be open from 10:00 – 17:30 (17:00 on Sunday) – so if you can make the NEC between 20-23-Aug-2009 go there, there’s no better way to spend a damp and dismal August weekend that surrounded by textiles and art all under the one roof.
Advance prices are £10.00 for a one day ticket and £17.00 for a two day ticket with concessions available as well. In this hard pressed (no pun intended) times surely there can be nothing that offers better value …..Prices on the door will be slightly more.
Elin at the Eisteddfod
Aug 3rd
Eldest Granddaughter and her group were singing in Bala yesterday at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
Although not in any competition, its still a big occasion for any 12 year old. Shame we couldn’t be there, but everyone else was, giving support and encouragement.
She enjoyed it though. Just what the Eisteddfod and music is all about. Ffion sings tomorrow, and Jemma on Thursday.
If you are in the Bala area – get to the National Eisteddfod
y ddraig goch
Aug 2nd
These are a series of wallhangings we produce, based on our own design of the Welsh Dragon and Celtic Knotwork.
We make a maximum of one a year, and each one is unique. Mixed techniques of applique, patchwork and quilting.
The example below was created in 2006 to be displayed in a revamped community village hall near Lake Vyrnwy in North Wales.
